Rules
Rule # 1 - Don't Cheat
Not only is this about as unserious a tournament can be, but you will look like an asshole. Do you really want to be the guy sitting at Caps who everyone knows cheated in this thing?
White Rob will be collecting scorecards at Caps. He does not want to sit around at the course wanting for everyone to finish. All the awards and stuff will be at Caps once Brown Rob shows up with his teams score and the winners of longest / closest.
If you are not going to Caps after you finish why are you playing in this thing to begin with.
Format - Scramble
-
Teams of 2 players.
-
Both players tee off on every hole.
-
The team selects the best shot, and both players hit their next shot from that spot. The order of players hitting does not matter.
-
The person whose shot you are choosing must pay it as it lies. The person who picked up their shot may place your ball within one club length of the chosen shot - not closer to the hole, and must stay in the same cut of grass
-
If the chosen shot is in a hazard, sand, or rough, you must both play from that location.
-
Continue until the ball is holed.
-
Record the total strokes as your team score.
-
Max score = triple bogey per hole to keep play moving.
-
BALL MUST GO IN THE HOLE!!!!! There is a gimme rope, if you are not using a piece of your rope you have to finish the putt. No 2 inch gimmes no one foot gimmes unless you are using a piece of the remaining rope.
-
Don’t subtract your handicap from your score before you turn it in, just write down the score for each hole. White Rob has a fancy app on his phone that will deal with the handicaps and final scores.
-
If there is a tie we will have a putt off inside of Caps. We will set up a pint class near the coolers, and every team member will putt from the far end of the bar near the door
Handicaps
If you do not know what your handicap is think about your best round in the past year, subtract 75 and give me that number. The max HC will be 24. I am saying 75 because HC is supposed reflect a round slightly better then your best score.
DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE AND CHEAT BY SANDBAGGING YOUR HANDICAP. See Rule #1.
Team handicap = 35% of the lower handicap index + 15% of the higher handicap index.
Example:
Player A = 8 handicap
Player B = 20 handicap
Team Handicap = (8 × 0.35 = 2.8) + (20 × 0.15 = 3) , which is 2.8 + 3, which will make the teams handicap 6
Net Score = Gross Score – Team Handicap
Setup
-
Everyone plays from the white tees, except when using the Red Tee Buster.
-
Longest Drive: Hole #13 (must be in the fairway) - Individual contest not team
-
Closest to the Pin: Hole #14 (must be on the green) - Individual contest not team
Gimme Rope:
-
Each team gets a decently sized piece of licorice (or rope/string or something that I find that tears easily). It will be around 6 ft.
-
If your ball is within that length of the hole, you may cut off a piece equal to the distance and count the putt good. Then that section of rope is dead, you are left with the remaining length.
-
YOU MUST ANNOUNCE YOU ARE USING IT BEFORE EITHER TEAM MEMBER ATTEMPTS THE PUTT. You cannot have one member try it, realize it is hard and then use the rope. No exceptions.
-
Once your rope is gone, no more gimmes
Red Tee Buster:
-
Each team gets one hole of their choice to hit from the red tees instead of the white tees.
-
Must announce before teeing off.
Mulligan:
-
Each team gets one Mulligan. Not each player, each team. You can use this on any shot on the hole. If you both miss a putt you can decide to use the Mulligan.
-
ONLY ONE TEAM MEMBER CAN HIT THE MULLIGAN. You don't both get a shot. Pick the member who you think can make the shot.
-
Once it's gone it's gone.
Prizes
(We will probably be getting some Caps gift cards for all of these as well).
-
1st Place (Lowest Net Score) – Championship Trophies. Bar bragging rights.
-
2nd Place - You don’t win anything but we get to hear you bitching for a year about how you somehow got screwed.
-
Second-to-Last Place – This team is going to get something I don’t know what yet. But it will be pretty good and would rather not have people trying to come in last for a prize, so there is still something to fight for if you are having a shitty day, or you are just bad at golf.
-
Closest and Longest will get something. I don’t know what yet, it will be something though.
